This pair of front bumper air vent grilles replaces the cracked, faded or missing vertical inserts at the outer corners of the bumper on the pre-facelift Renault Clio III hatchback and Grandtour, matching original part number 7701208684, which covers both the left and right panels. The grilles are moulded from PP plastic (Polypropylene) with a textured black surface, the same impact-resistant and UV-stable material used for original bumper trims, so they flex on contact instead of snapping. When the factory inserts are lost or broken, the bumper openings gape, road spray reaches the wheel-arch liners and the front of the car looks unfinished. Clipping in these panels restores the original closed look and airflow shape of the Phase 1 bumper. The finish may vary by production batch and does not affect fitment or performance.

Expert Notes

WHY THE ORIGINAL GRILLES FAIL AND HOW THIS PAIR FIXES IT

The vertical inserts in the corners of the Clio III Phase 1 bumper are the lowest, most forward-facing trim on the car, and they take every kerb scuff, car-wash brush and flying stone before anything else does. Their small clips fatigue with heat and vibration until one insert works loose and vanishes on the motorway, or a minor parking knock cracks the panel and leaves it hanging. The result is an open hole that lets spray hammer the arch liner and makes an otherwise tidy car look damaged. These replacement grilles are moulded from polypropylene, the same class of impact-resistant, UV-stabilised material used for the original bumper trims, with fresh, full-height clips and the factory rough texture, so they snap in firmly and blend with the bumper.

WHAT TO CHECK BEFORE YOU BUY

This set fits the pre-facelift Clio III built from 2005 until the 2009 facelift; the Phase 2 bumper has a different opening and takes different inserts, so identify your bumper before ordering, and note that TecDoc lists the part against the whole Clio III range without a phase restriction. Compare the outline of the opening and the number and position of the clip slots with the product photos, and check that the bumper itself is not cracked around the opening, because a damaged bumper edge will not hold the clips. Left and right panels are handed and are supplied together in this set; the surface texture may differ slightly from a sun-faded original.

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION NOTES

Remove any fragments of the old insert from the bumper opening and clean the slots so the new clips can seat fully. Offer up the correct-side grille from the front with its clips aligned to the slots, then press evenly around the perimeter until each clip clicks home; on a cold day warm the bumper edge gently to make the plastic more forgiving. Do not lever the panel with a screwdriver or force a clip that is misaligned, as this will crack the mounting tab. Repeat on the other side and check that both grilles sit flush with the bumper surface before driving.
