Exterior door handle support frame for the front right door of the VW Passat B6 and B7 saloon and the Passat CC, built between 2005 and 2014. Die-cast from Zamak zinc alloy, this internal carrier holds the exterior door handle and lock cylinder to the door shell, replacing the original frame whose mounting points crack over time. A broken frame is the reason a handle feels loose, hangs at an angle or no longer opens the door from outside. The new carrier restores solid handle operation with original-equipment strength.

WHY THIS PART FAILS AND HOW THIS KIT SOLVES IT

On the Passat B6, B7 and CC the exterior handle is carried by an internal frame that takes the full pulling load of every door opening, plus the spring tension of the handle return. Over the years the casting fatigues and cracks at the mounting bosses and spring seats, so the handle becomes loose, sits crooked, loses its return action or stops releasing the latch, and in the worst case the door can no longer be opened from outside. This Zamak die-cast replacement renews the entire carrier, restoring original handle geometry and a firm, factory-like action.

WHAT TO CHECK BEFORE PURCHASING

This frame fits the RIGHT side; the left side uses OEM number 3C0837885. Match the OEM reference on your original frame against 3C0837886 or its suffix variants, and compare the shape with the product photos, because equipment versions such as keyless entry (Kessy) use different frame variants. Note that the handle itself, the lock cylinder and the microswitch are not included and transfer from your original assembly.

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION NOTES

Work with the window fully up and remove the door panel and the vapour barrier carefully. Release the lock cylinder or end cap via the access screw in the door edge, slide the exterior handle out, then unscrew the old frame and manoeuvre it out through the door cavity, noting the orientation of the actuating lever. Fit the new frame, torque the mounting screws evenly and transfer the handle and cylinder, then test the handle action and central locking several times with the door open before closing the panel — never test with the door shut until the latch release is confirmed working.
