WHY THE SWITCH FAILS AND HOW THIS UNIT FIXES IT

The driver's double switch on the Focus I sits in the door armrest, where it takes daily pressure from the driver's hand as well as moisture from the door. Over time the internal contacts wear and oxidise and the rocker pivots loosen, leaving windows that move in only one direction, respond intermittently or stop altogether. This replacement renews both switch channels with fresh contacts and new rockers, restoring reliable control of both front windows.

BEFORE YOU BUY

This switch is for left-hand drive (LHD) Ford Focus I hatchback, estate and saloon (1998–2007) with electric front windows, fitted in the front left (driver's) door; it does not suit right-hand drive vehicles. Compare it with your old part: it must carry OE YS4T14529AA or one of its listed alternatives such as 7S4T14529AA, have two rockers side by side and use a 6-pin connector. The panel and rockers are black; the hidden connector colour may vary by production batch and does not affect fitment or performance.

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION NOTES

Switch the ignition off or disconnect the battery negative terminal before starting. Ease the panel out of the door trim with a plastic trim tool, working from the edge to avoid marking the trim, and never pull it out by its wiring. Press the locking tab to unplug the 6-pin connector, plug in the new switch until it clicks, and test both windows up and down before pressing the panel home. If a window still does not move, check the fuse, the wiring at the door hinge and the window motor, as the fault may lie outside the switch.
