WHY THE CAP FAILS

The oil filler cap sits on top of a hot valve cover and is removed at every oil check and service. Constant heat cycling makes the plastic brittle, the locking lugs wear or crack, and caps are often lost or left loose after topping up. A damaged or missing cap lets oil mist coat the engine bay, lets dirt and water into the engine, and upsets crankcase ventilation, which can cause oil leaks, rough idle or warning lights. This cap restores a secure, sealed closure on the filler neck.

On Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Mitsubishi models it fits only versions with Renault-built engines, so confirm your engine code first. Compare the new cap with your old one for diameter and locking lug layout before fitting. The cap is supplied in the factory yellow used on Renault engines to mark the oil filler.

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION NOTES

Check the oil level first and top up only to the maximum mark, as marked on the cap. Wipe the filler neck and its sealing face clean so no grit is trapped under the new cap. Align the cap lugs with the neck slots, press down and turn clockwise until it locks firmly without forcing. Run the engine briefly and check for oil mist or seepage around the cap before closing the bonnet.
