WHY THE COVER FAILS

On the Megane II and Scenic II with the 1.5 dCi engine the plastic engine cover sits directly over the hot cylinder head. Years of heat cycling make it brittle, so the mounting points crack and the cover breaks when it is removed for servicing, or it is simply left off and lost. Without it the engine sounds harsher, and dirt and water collect around the injectors. A new cover restores the noise damping and a clean engine bay.

CHECK BEFORE YOU BUY

This cover matches OE 8200365952 for the 1.5 dCi K9K diesel engine in the Megane II and Scenic II; petrol engines and other diesel engines use different covers. Renault fitted the K9K in many models with differently shaped covers, so compare the shape, oil filler opening and mounting points with your original cover before ordering. Rubber grommets are not included; reuse the originals if they are in good condition. The colour may vary by production batch and does not affect fitment or performance.

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION NOTES

Work with the engine cool. Remove the oil filler cap, lift the old cover straight up off its mounts, and check the rubber grommets for cracks or hardening. Transfer good grommets to the new cover or fit new ones, align the cover over the mounting pins and press down evenly at each mount until it seats. Refit the oil filler cap and check that the cover does not touch hoses or wiring.
