WHY THE NUMBER PLATE LIGHT FAILS

On the Kangoo II and NV250 the number plate light sits in the tailgate, where it is exposed to road spray, washing and temperature changes. Over time the lenses crack or cloud, the seals fail and water gets inside, corroding the bulb holders and contacts. The result is a dim, flickering or dead plate light, which can lead to a failed inspection or a roadside fine. This replacement housing and new bulb holders restore a sealed unit and bright, even illumination.

WHAT TO CHECK BEFORE YOU BUY

This unit matches Renault OE 8200419876 / 265103161R and Nissan OE 26510-00Q0J for the Kangoo II, Grand Kangoo, Kangoo II Express and NV250. Compare the shape and length of your existing light with the photos, as it spans both plate lamps in one housing. Bulbs are not included: you need two W5W bulbs, which can be reused from the old unit if they work. If the new unit still does not light, check the fuse and the wiring connector in the tailgate. Colour may vary by production batch and does not affect fitment or performance.

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION NOTES

Switch off the lights and ignition. Release the old unit from the tailgate, disconnect the wiring and remove the bulb holders. Clean any corrosion from the connector, fit two W5W bulbs into the new holders and twist them into the new housing. Connect the wiring, test that both lamps light up evenly, then fit the unit into the tailgate with the original fixings so it seals fully against the panel.
