Expert Notes

WHAT THIS PART IS NEEDED

The interior sunroof grille is the slatted trim panel that finishes the sunroof opening inside the headliner and allows air to pass through. With years of heat and sun the plastic becomes brittle, fades, or cracks, and the mounting tabs break, so the grille rattles, sits loose, or looks worn. Renewing it restores the tidy factory appearance of the sunroof surround.

WHAT TO CHECK BEFORE BUYING

This grille is a shared interior trim used across many Mercedes-Benz models of this era, referenced to A2117840644. Because it is used so widely, compare the size, slat pattern, and mounting tabs against your existing grille before ordering, and choose the colour that matches your headliner. Fitment is based on cross-source consensus and the genuine part number rather than a catalogue listing.

INSTALLATION NOTES

No tools are needed. Remove the old grille from the interior sunroof opening, noting how the tabs locate in the headliner trim. Line the new grille up the same way and press it home until it seats flush and the tabs engage, so it sits securely without rattling.
