PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION NOTES

Open the tailgate fully and support it before starting. Peel the old seal off the flange, scrape away rubber residue, old sealant and any corrosion with a plastic scraper, then degrease the flange so the metal carrier can grip cleanly. Fit the new seal starting at the bottom centre of the aperture, pressing the metal-cored channel squarely onto the flange with palm pressure and working up both sides in short sections; feed the rubber loosely into the upper corners without stretching it. Check the drain channels below the aperture are clear before closing. Cycle the tailgate several times to bed the profile in; a firmer closing action is normal for the first days until the seal takes its compression set.
