WHY THE ORIGINAL HOSE END FAILS

The genuine OM 607 charge air line (A6070900300, also listed as A6070900342) uses a moulded plastic quick-connect end at the turbocharger side. Constant turbo heat, boost pressure pulses and oil mist from the crankcase ventilation make the plastic brittle until it cracks around the clip slots or at the hose joint. The result is a boost leak: hissing or whistling under load, weak acceleration, limp mode and underboost fault codes such as P0299. This aluminium end replaces only the failed coupling, so an intact hose section can be reused instead of buying the complete charge air line.

CHECK BEFORE YOU BUY

Confirm the engine code is OM 607 (1.5 CDI diesel) from the vehicle data card or the engine block, not just the model badge; depending on year and market the same badge may cover a different engine, and petrol or OM 651 versions use different charge air parts. Compare the old part side by side: the coupling diameter, clip layout and spigot angle must match, and the original line should carry OE A6070900300, A6070900342 or A6070940182. Inspect the rubber hose section as well; if it is split, swollen or oil-soaked, replace the hose too. Black finish; colour may vary by production batch and does not affect fitment or performance.

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION NOTES

Work with the engine cold. Release the retaining clip and pull the old coupling off the port, then cut the cracked plastic end off the hose squarely, keeping as much hose length as possible. Degrease the hose bore and the port with brake cleaner, inspect the sealing ring at the port and renew it if flattened or cracked. Push the hose fully over the beaded spigot and tighten a suitable hose clamp just behind the bead. Push the coupling onto the port until the clip locks, then pull-test the joint. Clear stored fault codes, run the engine and check under load for hissing or oil weeping at both joints.
