WHY THE CLIP FAILS

On the BMW X3 (E83) the rear window glass sits in a plastic carrier clip that rides on the regulator cable. Age, heat cycles and repeated load on the glass make the original clip crack or lose its grip, so the window drops into the door, tilts, clicks or stops moving while the motor still runs. This set replaces only the failed clips on both rear doors, restoring correct glass guidance without the cost of a complete regulator.

CHECK BEFORE YOU BUY

These clips are for the rear doors only and match OE 51353448251 (left) and 51353448252 (right); the front door regulators use a different design and are not covered. TecDoc lists the part for vehicles built from 01.2004 to 11.2010, so confirm your build date and compare the new clip against your old one before installation. Confirm the regulator cable, pulleys and motor are undamaged, since a frayed cable will break a new clip again. The colour may vary by production batch and does not affect fitment or performance.

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION NOTES

Disconnect the battery or the window switch connectors before removing the door card, then peel back the moisture barrier carefully so it can be resealed. Support the glass with tape while the old clip is removed, fit each clip to its own side, and seat the glass fully in the clip before tightening. Cycle the window several times to check that the glass travels level and closes fully before refitting the barrier and trim.
