WHY THIS REGULATOR FAILS

The front left regulator on the Xsara Picasso uses a double-rail Bowden cable design. Its weak points are the plastic glass carriers and the cable drum, which crack with age and heat. Once a carrier breaks or a cable frays, the cable jumps off its pulley or snaps. The result is a window that drops into the door, moves crookedly, or only makes grinding noises while the motor runs. This kit replaces every wear component of the cable system while the original rails and motor are kept. This restores factory operation at a fraction of the cost of a complete regulator.

WHAT TO CHECK BEFORE BUYING

Confirm that your car has the electric double-rail regulator referenced under OE 9221G2 or 9221ET, and compare the old drum and carriers with the parts shown. This kit is for the front left door only. On left-hand-drive cars this is the driver door; on right-hand-drive cars it is the passenger door. Some aftermarket references list this regulator for left-hand-drive vehicles, so right-hand-drive owners should compare the original unit before ordering. The motor and rails must be undamaged, because this kit does not replace them. The colour may vary by production batch and does not affect fitment or performance.

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION NOTES

Disconnect the battery and support the glass with tape before you release it from the carriers. Before stripping the old regulator, photograph or mark the cable routing, and keep the order of the three colour-tagged cable loops. Seat each cable end fully in the drum and carriers, and lightly grease the rails and drum. Pre-tension the cables with the supplied springs. Cycle the regulator by hand before refitting the glass, then run the window fully up and down several times to check for even travel before refitting the door card.
