This cap fits the window switches of the E46 throughout its production, the E90 3 Series, the X5 E53 before its facelift and the X3 E83 before its facelift — later facelifted X5 and X3 switches use a different cap design, so compare the cap outline and clip positions with your original or the product photos before ordering. One cap covers one switch; count your worn switches, as they usually age together, and note the 2-piece and 4-piece packs listed separately.

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION NOTES

Ease the old cap off the switch rocker with a small flat plastic tool, working from its front edge to release the hinge clips without scratching the trim. Clean any sticky coating residue from around the switch opening, then align the new cap with the window symbol upright and press it onto the rocker until both clips click home. Test the switch through its lift and lower positions and check the symbol glows evenly with the lights on.
